Straightforward, easy-to-coat doors: ADLER has the right coating for any requirement

ADLER has been providing manufacturers of exterior doors with a first-class coating that meets all their requirements for many years now – with Aquawood Protor. Now Austria's leading manufacturer of paints and varnishes is also giving companies who have to date only been travelling in "Economy Class" the opportunity to make a promising upgrade.

If you regularly manufacture exterior doors, you'll no doubt already be familiar with ADLER's Aquawood Protor. The premium product of this Tyrolean paint and varnish specialist is a great performer with an all-round, worry-free package of benefits for discerning customers: extremely good hardness and scratch resistance but with a high degree of elasticity, good resistance to weathering and exceptionally good durability make doors coated with Aquawood Protor almost indestructible. If, on the other hand, you only produce the occasional balcony door, lift and slide door or exterior door to complement other products, you may be put off by the idea of using the two-component Protor system and may simply choose to use your usual window frame paint or varnish to coat your doors. After all, if it works on windows, it should be good enough for a door. Sadly not the case! The demands made of door components are in fact much higher than those made of window frames, which are subjected to a relatively low amount of wear and tear: doors are handled every day – often with fingers that are not particularly clean – as well as being pushed by shoulders, kicked by feet and maltreated by sharp-edged keys. "We have therefore now developed a special coating that is as easy and straightforward to apply as a window frame paint, but that guarantees a surface that is significantly more robust," explains Richard Mölk, Head of the Window Industry Division at ADLER, introducing the new alternative in the ADLER range: Aquawood Dura!

Do it better!

"Some manufacturers cannot or do not want to use a two-component system such as Aquawood Protor. Because their plant and equipment doesn't allow for it or they are unsure about using a hardener, or because they have concerns about the restrictions that pot life will mean," explains Mölk. In order to be able to offer such companies a significantly better product, the researchers in the ADLER laboratory have now developed the Aquawood Dura system: the single-component intermediate coating Aquawood Dura Base ensures good wet adhesion and filling performance, a good insulating effect, good block resistance and ease of sanding, while the topcoat Aquawood Dura Finish provides a high degree of mechanical resistance and particularly good chemical resistance, improved slip resistance and an attractive look. Because Aquawood Dura allows you to create both opaque and transparent surfaces. And it can even be combined with ADLER's Crystal-Clear-Technology (CCT) for a super-transparent look with reliable UV protection. "For a 1C system, Aquawood Dura achieves really impressive results," Mölk tells us with conviction. Of course, Protor is still the best. But for those who want to at least improve the way they have been doing things, ADLER's Aquawood Dura offers an attractive solution!

ADLER – paint runs through our veins

With 720 employees, ADLER is Austria's leading manufacturer of varnishes, paints and wood preservatives. Founded in 1934 by Johann Berghofer, this family business is now managed by a member of the third generation, Andrea Berghofer. Every year, 21,000 tonnes of paint leave the Schwaz plant and are delivered to customers in more than 30 countries worldwide. ADLER has sales subsidiaries in Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia; their sole production site is the ADLER-Werk Lackfabrik in Schwaz, Tyrol (Austria). ADLER was one of the first companies in its sector to be 100% climate-neutral (since 2018). The company has been able to reduce its carbon footprint to a minimum through a wide range of measures. ADLER offsets any unavoidable residual emissions through the purchase of recognised climate protection certificates, thereby helping to finance new climate protection projects
